Farm Manager – Baby Leaf Salad

Reporting to the Farm Operations Manager, this position requires the successful applicant to have sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of vegetable farming. In return, we will provide attractive Salary, exciting career and the chance to work in a great team environment.

Some Key Responsibilities of this role include:

  • In line with market and environmental factors you will need to plan a coordinate the production and marketing of crops, such as baby leaf produce from soil preparation to harvest
  • Planning and management of harvesting processes of salad mixes relating to improving crop yields
  • Overseeing and supervising staff regarding harvest collection, storing, grading, packaging, sale, purchase and despatch
  • Monitor, train and supervise harvest staff to strictly adhere to Occupational Health and Safety policies andprocedures
  • Estimation and maintaining optimal growing conditions and crop yields based on research and farm conditions
  • Monitoring of farm parameters such as pest and disease incidence, weed population and soil pH; advising, planning, implementing relevant changes to improve crop yields
  • Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity, and planning crop preparation and production to meet contract requirements and market demand
  • Maintain records of all harvesting and matters relating to crop quality and procedures
  • Maintain efficiency and quality of harvest team’s work
  • Train harvest team where necessary
  • Responsible for quality control of all produce leaving the farm and implementation of quality control measures
  • Advise on and enforce policies and procedures relating to harvesting

The successful applicant will have:

  • Required Qualification in agriculture or minimum five years’ experience in role
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and attention to detail is a must.
  • Hands on, energetic and proactivity is a must.
  • Flexible and lead from the front

Harvest Shift Supervisor

This position requires high energy levels, personal resilience and having the ability to hit the ground running.

You will have the resilience to adapt to a constantly evolving environment and the ability to be flexible depending on operational demands. 

Reporting directly to the Harvest Manager, this position requires the successful applicant to have sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of vegetable farming (baby leaf is advantageous). You will be responsible for the supervision of all harvesting operations.

Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Liaising with the Harvest Manager to ensure daily production requirements are fulfilled.
  • Staff management & supervision
  • Assisting with estimation of crop yields
  • Assisting with planning & management of harvesting processes
  • Ensuring products are consistently produced according to quality standards
  • Supporting the training of harvest employees
  • Maintain records of all harvesting and matters relating to crop quality and procedures
  • The ability to work nights (approx. 3:00pm – 3:00am depending on Seasons)

Job Requirements—Education, Training, Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing staff
  • Experience in vegetable farming is advantageous
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Shift work will be required depending on the Season
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Hands on, energetic and pro-activity is a must.

Tractor Operator

Our growing Agribusiness, located in Newry VIC , is looking for a ‘hands on’ energetic and highly motivated Tractor Driver to join our team.  

High energy levels, personal resilience and having the ability to think on your feet will be critical for success.​

This position requires the successful applicant to have sound knowledge and experience in vegetable farming.

Ordinary Hours of Work are Monday – Friday but the position requires the candidate to have a level of flexibility which requires working after hours and weekends.

YOUR BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

Practical background in vegetable farming (emphasis placed on baby leaf or lettuce experience) would be highly regarded. 

In addition, the following skills and experience will be required:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Tractor driving
  • Land preparation
  • Experience in Irrigation
  • Cultivation
  • Bed forming
  • Spraying
  • General tractor work
  • Hold current chemical certification (would be highly advantageous)
  • Willing to work flexible hours

Casual Factory Operators

Our growing Agribusiness, located in Pearcedale on the Mornington Peninsula, is looking for hands on and highly motivated Factory operators to join our team.

This role requires the successful candidates to have previous experience working in a food manufacturing facility.

Ordinary hours of work are 12 hour shifts on a 7 day fortnight rotating roster. 

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Identifying stock
  • Machine Operation
  • Picking Orders/Packing Orders
  • Pallet stacking
  • Liaising with internal team members
  • Cleaning
  • Cool room environment

Job requirements – Education, Training, Experience:

  • Fluent English (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
  • Reliable
  • Excellent attention to detail is necessary
  • Fast and willing learner
