Excellence in Innovation Award

Hussey & Co was honoured to receive the Excellence in Innovation Award at Food and Fibre Gippsland’s inaugural Excellence Awards in August 2019.

In awarding this achievement the judges noted Hussey & Co’s dedication to technology and infrastructure investment, as the first Australian baby leaf grower to utilise optical sorting, air-drying tunnels and on-farm vacuum-cooling to produce unrivalled product quality.

Also central to the award win were Hussey & Co’s collaborative partnerships, and development of new business models and farming systems to improve efficiency and best practice.

Hussey & Co’s Solar Farm, which was developed in partnership with the Sustainable Australia Fund, was highlighted as significant achievement. The Solar Farm now offsets 100% of Hussey’s peak daytime energy use, cutting 954 tonnes of carbon emissions per annum, which is the equivalent of taking 161 cars off the road each year.

“This award is a testament to the amazing team we have at Hussey & Co”, says Managing Director Jeremy Haw. “Our company philosophy which empowers staff, values customers and pursues business efficiency and innovation, has provided employees with the skills necessary to build business networks and undertake initiatives using industry leading technology and sustainability. It is wonderful for the Hussey & Co team to receive recognition for this achievement. Thank you to everyone involved for our ongoing success.”
